Frequently Asked Questions

Before sending us a message, look through our FAQ and see if we have answered it already. If not, feel free to send us a message using the form on the bottom of this page.

Do you charge tuition?

Yes. We ask parents to pay 5% of their income to invest in their child’s education. We are a Christ centered education anyone can afford.

Do you have uniforms?

No. We ask that students honor God in their clothing choices.

Do you provide meals at school?

Hunger will never be a barrier to learning at TOL!

Classrooms are stocked with breakfast & snack items to utilize as needed; students are welcome to bring in snacks from home as well.
All students are provided with a school water bottle.
Lunch is provided & served on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays by our generous community.
Students build responsibility by packing & bringing a simple lunch every Monday.

Do you provide transportation?

Students that live more than one mile from school and live in the Kalamazoo Public Schools district may ride the KPS bus to and from school.

What are the school start and end times?

Doors open at 8 am and school begins at 8:15 am. Students are released at 3:30 pm.

Do I have to live in the Edison Neighborhood to attend?

No. About 50% of TOL students live in the neighborhood. About 25% used to live in the neighborhood when they found TOL.

What is your typical class size?

Our goal is 20 or fewer students in a classroom.

Can my child with an IEP or 504 attend?

Yes. We review these before accepting students to make sure that we can best serve them. We do receive speech and occupational therapy services through KPS.

What exactly do you guys believe in? Can anyone attend?

We believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. All are welcome here.

How does the curriculum at TOL compare to other schools?

We at TOL follow the State of Michigan Standards. In the last 2 years, students on average have gained 4-5 reading levels on the Fountas and Pinnell scale. They have also averaged a 50 percentage point increase on their grade level math tests. Students transferring to other schools have done very well.
