100 STUDENTS ARE WAITING…
HELP US MAKE ROOM FOR EVERY CHILD!

At the heart of this project is a simple conviction: God is not finished.
This is more than a building project. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape a fully connected campus where students are formed academically, spiritually, and practically for life.

God is moving in a powerful way in the Edison neighborhood.

Edison is the largest and most impoverished neighborhood in Kalamazoo—home to over 10,000 people. It is beautifully diverse, yet many of its children share the same heavy realities that come with poverty: trauma, food insecurity, violence, unstable housing, incarcerated parents, and overwhelming financial stress.

But this is exactly where God called us to plant ourselves.

He stirred the heart of our founder with a clear and unwavering vision: to build a Christ-centered school in the heart of this neighborhood—one that is deeply rooted in faith and accessible to every family, regardless of income. Because God’s heart has always been for the poor, the broken, and the marginalized.

Over the past 15 years, we have witnessed His faithfulness in extraordinary ways. A school has been built. Hundreds of children and families have been reached. Generations are being shaped by the love of Christ, and hope is taking root where there was once despair.

But God is not finished.

In fact, the need is growing. Over 100 children were turned away this year due to lack of space and the list is growing.

That is why this moment matters.

The “Rooted” campaign is our response to what God is already doing. It is a call to expand, to make room, and to purchase an additional building on our campus where more children can be formed academically, spiritually, and emotionally in the love of Christ.

Because when God plants something in the soil of a neighborhood like Edison, He does it for generations.

And He is just getting started.

MAKING ROOM

We are in the process of acquiring a building located at 2022 Fulford Avenue—a site that providentially sits directly next to our existing campus. This proximity is strategic and allows us to unify our school community on one connected campus for the first time.

While we already have a state-of-the-art K–8 building next door, our high school currently operates off-site in a rented facility across town. This new building will allow us to bring all of Tree of Life onto one shared campus—still in two buildings, but fully connected through common grounds and a central, full-size gymnasium that will serve as the heart of campus life.

HANDS-ON LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

This expanded space opens the door for unique, hands-on learning opportunities that help students grow in skill, responsibility, and creativity. We are exploring ideas that can teach entrepreneurship, stewardship, and sustainability while also creating pathways for school-generated income, such as:

Solar Energy Integration

Student-Run Coffee Shop

Agricultural Spaces

At the heart of this vision is not just education,
but transformation.

Tree of Life has become a beacon of light and hope in the Edison neighborhood. Through neighborhood BBQs, community events, and daily presence, we have seen relationships formed and trust built between the school and the families we serve. Our prayer is that this expanded campus would strengthen that mission even more—becoming a visible, lasting light in the neighborhood, offering hope to students, families, and the broader community for generations to come.

This is more than a building project. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape a fully connected campus where students are formed academically, spiritually, and practically for life.

And we believe with confidence—this is just the beginning of what God intends to do through Tree of Life.

“My heart breaks for the children of Edison. I see their suffering, but I also see the love of Christ poured out daily—needs being met, learning taking root, and joy rising where heaviness once lived. And yet, even in this hope, 100 children still stand at the door, waiting to be welcomed in.”
